PA –- Pittsburgh raised actor Tom Kurlander has returned to
the city and is now operating Family Shorts, a producer of “
slice-of-life “ documentaries and music videos for family
clients. The firm’s most recent production, “ Say Goodbye
to Squirrel Hill “, chronicles the departure of the Harold
Weitz family from their home of 42 years. Clips of the film are
posted on the firm’s website, www.familyshorts.com.
Working collaboratively
with each client, Family Shorts determines the appropriate length,
style and content of productions personalized to convey the character
and values that make families unique. Mr. Kurlander said, “
We capture the personalities, memories, sounds and surroundings
that form a family to preserve them for future generations.”
“ In brief ”, he added, “ we produce documentary
films about families for families.”
Mr. Kurlander, who attended Shady
Side Academy and graduated from Miami University ( Oxford, OH. ),
has spent much of his career on the other side of the camera. Based
in Los Angeles, he performed in such features as Dave, Young Guns
II and Kindergarten Cop. His television work includes The Martin
Short Show, Stalking Back, Remembrance, ER and Matlock. Mr. Kurlander
also has appeared in dozens of nationally broadcast commercials.
